The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies of Uzbekistan abroad, together with the agencies involved in the country, carried out extensive work on increasing the tourist flow to the country.
As reported by the Press Service of the Committee, on May 1-15, more than 12 events took place in Azerbaijan, Belgium, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, and others.
Representatives of responsible agencies took part in tourism events and international tourism exhibitions, including Around the World Embassy Tour (USA, May 5), ITF-lssyk-Kul-2018 (Kyrgyzstan, May 6), Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit (Russia, May 10-12), National cuisine and handicrafts (Tajikistan, May 12), and others.
Uzbekistan also participated in the 44th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for the Middle East, as well as the UNWTO Regional Conference on Human Capital Development in Tourism (Egypt, May 7-9).
On May 1-15, 2018, 288,013 foreigners visited Uzbekistan, which is twice as much as in the same period of 2017 (136,094).
