An exhibition on the theme: “The path to the future: a new generation of Japanese Art” launched at the International Caravanserai of Culture of Ikuo Hirayama exhibition launched which will run until December 7.

The event, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan and Japan Foundation with the support of the Academy of Arts in our country, focused on the art of the land of the rising sun in early XXI century.

The exhibition represented 42 works of art – paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and videos of eleven young Japanese artists who in recent years have attracted great attention and interest among the art-lovers. The inspiration for their creation was the subjects of the immediate environment of the authors. These works have a strong visual effect and allow you to plunge into the world of contemporary Japanese art.

At the end of the event the correspondent of Jahon talked with the organizers.

Itou Nobuaki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan:

– Today’s exhibition differs from the previous ones. It does not show the works that are associated with traditional aspects of Japanese history as usual. The current work of painters and sculptors represent the spirit of modern culture and the lives of our people.

Such events allow us to expand bilateral relations between our countries which new impetus has been given in the past year during the official visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Uzbekistan.

Akmal Nur, chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan:

– In Uzbekistan, a large number of international exhibitions in biennale format in which Japanese artists also participated with their works. Their works has always different creativity.

The current exhibition is a new project of the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan jointly with the International Caravanserai of Culture of Ikuo Hirayama. I think that represented contemporary Japanese art will cause genuine interest among the Uzbek audience today.

Heads of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan hope for further development of fruitful cooperation in this direction.
