Bakhshi from 9 to 90 years old will meet in Termez

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region held a videoconference on the preparation process for the International Bakhshi Art Festival.
The festival will include a scientific practical conference on development of bakhshi art and storytelling on “The role of bakhshi art in world civilization”, concerts of foreign and Uzbek bakhshi art masters, and a creative contest. A presentation of research works, educational literature published in Uzbek, Russian, English languages promoting Bakhshi art will be held at this unique festival of folk art. It is expected that guests from many foreign countries will take part at the festival, along with representatives of such reputable international organizations as UNESCO and ISESCO.
The Selection Committee reviewed the activities of about 300 participants from more than 80 countries. According to the conclusions of the commission, it is expected that 57 performers from 20 countries, scientists, folklorists, experts from 12 countries, 43 guests from 41 countries, foreign media workers from 20 countries will take part in the festival. The creative competition will be judged by a reputable jury. It is particularly interesting that the age of the participants is very different. If the oldest participant bakhshi Hotam ota Khakimov from Tajikistan is 90 years old, the youngest bakhshi Kamarul Baihaqi bin Kamarul Baisahu from Malaysia is 9 years old.
