Dedicated to the International Mother Language Day

An event dedicated to the International Mother Language Day was held at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

It was attended by employees of the UNESCO office in Uzbekistan, state and public organizations, scientists-linguists, artists and art figures, teachers and students.

International Mother Language Day is celebrated at the initiative of UNESCO for protection of language and culture of world nations. At the event, participants were informed about history of the establishment of this date, its essence and importance, role in preservation of peace in the world.

Presentation of the “History of mankind” eight-volume UNESCO encyclopedia was held at the event.

An exhibition dedicated to the international Mother Language Day was also held within the framework of the event. Books about development of native language and studying foreign languages were presented. Thus, at the exhibition, participants had an opportunity to become familiar with textbooks, dictionaries, CDs, audio and video materials in English, German, French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, Czech, Turkish, Italian, Portuguese and Swedish.

The event ended with colorful dances, songs and melodies of various nations.
