Where to go the capital residents during the winter holidays, if they do not like the loud music in the squares, mass celebrations and bustle? Uzbekistan Today correspondents have tried to find the answer to this question, visiting the Gallery of Fine Art and Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, where people can enjoy interesting expositions.
Alluring theatrical sketches
The Gallery of Fine Art hosts a personal exhibition of Shuhrat Abdumalikov ‘Cominus et Eminus’ (Far and Near). But why the author gave such a name to his exhibition? According to the well-known theater critic Ildar Mukhtarov, besides skill of the painter, Shuhrat Abdumalikov has a very important ability to offer filmmakers his own images and vision of the play: “No matter how different Abdumalikov’s sketches from the actual design, their tone and the mood is always surprisingly exactly coincide with the intonation and style of the production, they produce a clear sense of what the world should sound in the play.”
The artist was born in Samarqand in 1970. In Tashkent he graduated from the art school, and then the Institute of Theater and Art. Abdumalikov is the author of more than 80 stage designs and works with many directors. His paintings are stored not only in exhibitions in Uzbekistan, but also private collections in the UK, France, USA, South Korea and other countries.
For the artist, painting is not just a hobby, but a way of life with a constant search for themes, colors, shapes. The world he creates is lyrical and fragile, poetic and tender.
The audience can enjoy the sketches for the plays ‘Aladdin’, ‘Tumaris’, performance ‘The Valley of Renunciation’, and other paintings. However, even in the design of the exhibition a great skill of the artist as a stage designer is felt.
