Oil and Gas Uzbekistan to be held in mid-May
The 18th International Oil and Gas Uzbekistan 2014 exhibition will take place from 13 to 15 May 2014 at the Uzexpocentre in Tashkent.
OGU is officially recognised as the most important and best-attended oil and gas exhibition in Uzbekistan. Today, it is an important event for the whole Central Asian region, which has a direct influence on the development of the fuel and energy complex of Uzbekistan and the furthering of international cooperation in this sector.
The OGU exhibition and conference gather thousands of representatives of national and international companies from 45 countries to discuss issues in the development of the Oil and Gas industry every year.
According to organizers, 150 companies will participate in the exhibition and among them such companies as LUKOIL, Sharjah Oxygen, CGG, Dressta, Confind и Solar Turbines, Jumo, MAN, Kanex и Samson, Beijing Tianhai Industry Co.,Ltd, BGP Inc. and others.
ITE Uzbekistan, which is the organizer of the exhibition and conference, said that the first day of the event will be dedicated to LUKOIL.
On 14 May, the international conference on oil and gas will open its work, which is expected will be attended by over 200 delegates.
During two days, the participants will consider important aspects of development of oil and gas sector development, market reviews, processing of oil and gas, cooperation in oil and gas sector, etc.
At the exhibition, Uzbekneftegaz is planning to hold negotiations with OGU participants.
OGU is part of s series of specialised exhibitions and conferences including: MIOGE (Russia – Moscow), KIOGE (Kazakhstan – Almaty), Caspian Oil & Gas (Azerbaijan – Baku), TUROGE (Turkey – Ankara), OGT (Turkmenistan – Ashgabat), GIOGE (Georgia – Tbilisi) and others.

British Officials Visit Uzbekistan
Sayeeda Warsi, Senior Minister of Sate for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, held talks April 16 in the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis.
It was noted in particular during the negotiations that Uzbekistan and Great Britain have steadily been advancing the mutual cooperation across diverse spheres, including parliamentarianism, and that the two nations are equally interested in the further enhancement of this interaction.
The Memorandum on Understanding signed between the Oliy Majlis Group for the Cooperation with the British Parliament and the latter’s Britain-Uzbekistan All-Party Group has been facilitating the further consolidation of interaction in the parliamentary sphere, expansion of political, economic and social ties.
The two sides discussed issues concerning the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between our two countries, and pointed out to the mounting role of the legislature in the advancement of society.
“Wide-ranging reforms have been underway in Uzbekistan to promote democratization and civil society,” Baroness Warsi said in particular. “The United Kingdom advocates a dynamic exchange of expertise with Uzbekistan on this front.”
The British officials also held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan has almost all the necessary qualities to become one of the major tourist pearls not only of the region, but also that of global significance. To realize this potential in the country, a massive complex of measures aimed at creating comfortable conditions for tourists.

Uzbekistan, following the trend of tourism business development, actively developing cooperation with the representatives of the world’s leading hotel brands. Today, the capital continues to build new hotels under the world famous brand Hyatt. To note, the international corporation Hyatt is one of the leading international hotel chains offering services in more than 370 hotels and resorts in 44 countries. The total cost of the construction of the hotel is about US$113m, including US$71m will be provided by the State Budget of Uzbekistan, and US$42m – in the form of a loan – by the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan. The total number of rooms is to reach 294.
Another recent example – South Korean company Hotel Lotte Co., Ltd obtained a control over Tashkent Palace Hotel for 10 years. The investor within the project is exempted from income tax, property tax and land tax for a period of three years. In result, there was conducted a re-equipment of the hotel complex and international standards of service implemented, which significantly affected its occupancy.
In the future, the Uzbek market can be entered by a number of major players. One of them is the French Accor. In Paris, during the Fifth Session of the Uzbek-French Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan was signed, which provides a joint elaboration of the issues for the transfer of the City Palace Hotel to its management. To note, Accor today owns and manages about 4 thousand hotels worldwide.

On May 15-16, 2014, Samarkand is due to host an international conference on the historical heritage of scientists and thinkers of the Medieval East, its role and significance for the modern civilization.
The conference is to be held in accordance with the 1 April 2014 resolution of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Scholars from almost fifty nations of the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Italy, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Indonesia and Egypt, along with heads and representatives of prominent international organizations, specialists of research centers and institutions as well as experts are among expected participants of the forthcoming forum.
Infinite throughout the world is the respect and reverence towards the unfading genius of our great forefathers, so is the interest in the study of their rich scientific heritage. Scholarly and artistic works have been created abroad narrating the life and activities of our ancestors and monuments been erected in tribute to them.
During the independence development years, the interest in inquiring into this colossal spiritual heritage has grown to a considerable extent. International scientific and cultural cooperation has been launched in Uzbekistan. Major academic conferences are held to further these goals. Jubilees of our outstanding scholars and thinkers as well as ancient cities have been celebrated at the international scale. The international academic conference to address the historic legacy of scientists and thinkers of the medieval East and its role and significance in the contemporary civilization is being held in the city of Samarkand and this not accidental.
