Uzbekenergo produced 53.2 billion KWH of electricity in 2013

Enterprises of Uzbekenergo produced 53.2 billion KWH of electricity in 2013, which grew by 3.9% year-on-year.

The press service of the company said that Uzbekenergo supplied 8 million Gcal of heating energy in 2013 to consumers.

The enterprises decreased prime cost by 15.2% in 2013 due to adopted measures on decreasing production expenses.

Uzbekenergo realized 47 investment projects on modernization and re-equipment of energy production capacities. Some 14 objects were commissioned in 2013.

About 65.12 megawatts of generating capacities were commissioned in 2013. Uzbekenergo also launched 1,322 km of electricity line with the voltage of 0.4-500 kilovolt and 671,000 kilovolt-ampere of transformer capacities with the voltage of 35 kilovolt or higher.

In particular, co-generation gas-turbine unit with the capacity of 27.15 megawatts was installed at Tashkent thermal power central.

The projects on installation of two gas-turbine units with the capacity of 450 megawatts each at Talimarjan thermal power station and gas-turbine unit with the capacity of 370 megawatts at Tashkent thermal power station are implemented now. The company also realized a project on installation of the second gas-turbine unit with the capacity of 450 megawatts at Navoi thermal power station.

The preparation works on construction of new thermal power station with the capacity of 900 megawatts were started in Turakurgan district of Namangan region. Cryogenic gas expansion units with the capacity of 20 megawatts installed at Syrdarya and Talimarjan thermal power station.

The project on transferring 1-5 energy generating units of Novo-Angren thermal power station to coal burning was completed. The project on construction of energy block with capacity of 130-150 megawatt for burning coal was started at Angren thermal power station.

Uzbekenergo said that it also constructed high voltage line “Talimarjan thermal power station – Sogdiana sub-station” with the length of 218 km with transformer with the capacity of 501,000 kilovolt-ampere at Talimarjan thermal power station. It also constructed electricity supply objects in Dekhanabad district of Kashkadarya region with construction of substation and high voltage line.

Uzbekenergo also works on modernization of hydro power generating unit No. 1 of Charvak hydro power station, which will increase its capacities by 15 megawatt.

The company also began to realize a project on construction of solar energy station with the capacity of 100 megawatt in Samarkand region.

Uzbekenergo in cooperation with foreign partners opened a joint ventureon production of LED-lamps in Angren special industrial zone and it implements projects on production of electronic electricity meters at Navoi free industrial and economic zone, as well as solar water heating systems at Jizzakh special industrial zone.

Committee on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Civil Society reviewed the work in 2013

It was held a press conference on the results of the 2013 Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Civil Society, as well as priorities for 2014.

Conference was opened by the Chairman of the Committee Akmal Saidov. In his speech, he stressed that it is difficult to imagine a democratic state, open and strong civil society without effective activities of non- profit organizations (NGOs), local authorities and other institutions of civil society. They have a positive impact on the socio- political activity, the legal culture of society, contribute to the emergence of their sense of respect for the law, ownership of the ongoing reforms, improve their civic responsibility. Most importantly, through these institutions the citizens, the general public to actively participate in government and public administration.

Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Civil Society in 2013 carried out some work on the preparation , control and analytical study of the laws relating to the functioning of democratic institutions , NGOs and local government agencies , which are essential in the formation of the country’s strong and open civil society , as well as the general public to explain the essence and significance of democratic reforms through various activities.

One of the main activities of the Committee is to lawmaking. Total for 2013 has been developed by the Committee of 7 bills. In particular, the new edition of the laws was passed the Republic of Uzbekistan “On local government citizens” and “On the Election of Chairman of citizens’ (elder) and his advisers”. The Committee also was responsible for preparing the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan” directly connected with the above laws and submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the lower house of parliament October 10, 2013.

In addition, in 2013, members have done some work to improve the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On guardianship”, introduced to discuss the Legislative Chamber of the Cabinet of Ministers 10 July 2013. Recall that subsequently, the law was officially published in print January 3, 2014. Based on the content of the Act, the Committee was prepared by Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the Law “On the guardianship”.

Currently, the Committee is preparing the second and third reading of the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Revolutions of individuals and legal entities”.

Within the analytical work Deputies Committee in 2013 instead of the planned four studied completing 10 laws.

On the priority challenges facing the Committee in 2014, said Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Adham Shodmonov . According to him, listing the country’s President in 2014 the “Year of a healthy child” imposes a special responsibility on the Committee , as it aims to improve the country’s legislation aims to protect the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests in the Constitution and existing laws, as well as monitor compliance with the relevant laws. Not by chance the first meeting of the Committee this year, held on January 3, was devoted to a comprehensive discussion of the work done and planned activities in order to fulfill the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On prevention of child neglect and juvenile delinquency” to enforce the decisions of the Committee on September 9, 2011 – in the Syrdarya area, from February 22, 2012 – in the Andijan region, from April 5, 2013 – in the Fergana region.

By the end of the press conference, members expressed their views about the nature and significance of the adopted laws and debated bills. Special attention was paid to the process of legal experiment in Bukhara and Samarkand on the testing of the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the openness of public authorities and administration”, as well as strengthening the interaction of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan with the media.

Our Athletes to Head for Winter Olympics

Athletes from Uzbekistan are going to take part in the 22nd Winter Olympics due 7-23 February in Russia’s Sochi.

As a result of the constant attention paid under the leadership of President Islam Karimov to foster the younger generation as comprehensively healthy and advanced and promote sports as one of the most important factors in further uplifting the honor of our Motherland in the international arena, winter sports have been spreading widely in our country, as well. Our athletes have been regular in Winter Olympics and Asian Games, world and continental championships and achieving remarkable results.

In the independence years, it was these very winter types of sports that the first Olympic medal of our nation was won in. Lina Cheryazova earned a gold medal in ski acrobatics at the 17th Winter Olympics in Norway’s Lillehammer in 1994. Uzbek sportspeople also took part in Winter Olympic Games in 1998 in Nagano, Japan, in the American Salt Lake City in 2002, in the Italian Turin in 2006, in the Canadian Vancouver in 2010.

Currently, the winter sports like mountain skiing, snowboard, freestyle, figure skating, hockey have been growing in popularity with our youths. Everything convenient has been created for going in for skiing, freestyle, snowboard in sports facilities Yangiabad and Chimgan in Tashkent region, for figure skating and hockey in the capital’s Ice Rink sports palace with artificial ice cover and the Ice Avenue palace.

At the 22nd Winter Olympics, our athlete Misha Ge is going to vie for victory in figure skating, while Artyom Voronov and Ksenia Grigorieva are to compete in mountain skiing.

A robust school has been shaped in Uzbekistan in figure skating. The leading athlete of ours Misha Ge performed well at a world championship in Canada in March 2013 and booked ticket for the Winter Olympics. Our strongest mountain skiers Artyom Voronov and Ksenia Grigorieva booked Olympic tickets at an international tournament held in New Zealand.

The sportspeople of our country have prepared thoroughly for the forthcoming Olympics. In the 2013 sports season, Misha Ge earned gold and silver medals at international tournaments in China, Thailand and Bulgaria. The mountain skiers Artyom Voronov and Ksenia Grigorieva, on the other hand, have taken part in training sessions organized in European nations in the process of preparations for the upcoming Olympics.
