200 Years Later
The chamber orchestra “Soloists of Uzbekistan” has given a sold-out concert at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with numerous requests from fans of the band, two evenings of classical music were in tribute to the composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, conductor Antonio Vivaldi. The artistic director of the orchestra, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Anvar Raimjanov presented the audience a symphony, a concert for string orchestra and two concertos for bassoon and orchestra – all for the first time in Tashkent.
“Despite the sweeping popularity in Europe, Antonio Vivaldi died in poverty,” says musicologist Lola Raimjanova. “His works, his creativity in whole, so popular during his lifetime, was gradually forgotten. His great works were not performed for almost 200 years, but in the late 1920’s an Italian musicologist rediscovered the great legacy of the composer. Since then, his works have played often in different countries. Each composition of his has half a thousand versions, because live music never is the same.”
The Chamber Orchestra performed the Concerto for String Orchestra in D Major, Symphony for String Orchestra in C Major. The event would have been incomplete without Antonio Vivaldi’s celebrated masterpiece “Autumn” from “The Four Seasons”. For each concert of this cycle the composer wrote a sonnet – a kind of literary program. The sonnet also sounded in that evening.
Another renowned work of his, “Gloria”, was performed in conjunction with the State Choir. Singers could feel and very accurately convey the style of music of the Baroque era, when the composer worked.
Thus the Chamber Orchestra “Soloists of Uzbekistan” ended the concert season. It proved rather eventful and interesting. This year the musicians have toured Bukhara and Navoi, where they were welcomed warmly by the audience. The performances took place not only in concert halls, but also in colleges, high schools, schools of music and art. The youngest soloists of the orchestra – students of the school of music and art №26 of Kibray District, Tashkent Region, brilliantly performed concertos by Mozart and Bach. Especially exciting for the audience was also the 2.5-hour concert, featuring the music of Baroque, classical, romantic, of late romanticism and works by 20th-century composers, including Uzbek ones.
