Light industry produces goods for 6 trln. soums
Enterprises of light industry of Uzbekistan produced goods for 6.004 trillion soums in January-June 2015, which grew by 14.2% compared to the same period of 2014, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said (currency rates of CB RU from 31.07.2015 1$= 2575.18 soums ).
Share of light industry in total volume of industrial output of Uzbekistan made up 14.7% in the reporting period, which grew by 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.
In January-June 2015, the enterprises of textile industry produced goods to 4.4 trillion. soums (+ 12.2%), including cotton industry – at 1.186 trillion soums (+ 19.3%) and knitting industry – to 400.5 billion. soums (+ 16.2%); clothing industry – 1.113 trillion soums (+ 22.8%); leather and footwear industry- 344.2 billion soums (+ 22%).
Enterprises of light industry increased production of raw silk by 1.6 times year-on-year in the first half of 2015, cotton spun yarn, not put up for retail sale – 1.3 times, pile knitted fabrics and terry – 3.2% , sewing and knitted products, total – 1.2 times, including of knitted and knitted clothes – 2.1 times, work clothes – 1.6 times.

A general plan of development of Termez for the period up to 2035 approved
Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers approved the general plan of the city of Termez on the period up to 2035.
The document was adopted for further comprehensive development of the city of Termez, improving the quality and level of planning, as well as the city infrastructure.
The basic provisions of the master plan provides its further development as administrative, economic, cultural and industrial center of Surkhandarya region.
Particular attention in general plan is paid to the following challenges:
– Development and implementation of measures for land development of the city, including lowering the groundwater level on the basis of scientific hydrogeological studies;
– Reconstruction of the central part of the city of Termez;
– Withdrawal of environmentally harmful facilities outside the city;
– Reorganization and modernization of the physical infrastructure with regard to modern resource-saving technologies;
– Complex beautification, landscaping and traffic arteries.

GM Uzbekistan starts to produce mini-pickup Labo
GM Uzbekistan, an Uzbek-US joint venture, launched a serial production of automobile of Labo model at its plant in Khorezm region on 27 July 2015.
According to the press service of Uzavtosanoat, the enterprise launched production of Labo automobile in line with the presidential resolution “On investment programme of Uzbekistan for 2015” from 17 November 2014.
Total cost of the project is US$5.9 million. The capacity of the plant on production of Labo is 5,000 cars a year.
Chevrolet Labo is a mini-pickup with the tonnage of 550 kg. The car is a modification of Damad model with open board body, designed to transport cargoes in city and rural areas for short distances.
The car is equipped with a 0.8 liter three-cylinder engine with the capacity 38 hp, as well as five-speed manual transmission.
This is third model of automobiles, which is produced at new plant of GM Uzbekistan, Khorezm Auto, in Khorezm region. The plant also produces Damas and Orlando models.
