Uzbekistan is a united multi-ethnic country

A ceremonial event took place in the “Ozbekiston” palace of international forums on 24 January on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre.

The chiefs and active members of national cultural centres, members of the parliament and the government, representatives of state and public organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in this country were invited to the event.

At first, participants in the event visited Independence Square and laid flowers at the monument of independence and kindness, which is a symbol of the country’s sovereignty, bright future and good intentions.

The festive event was declared open.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met active members of national cultural centres on 24 January. The head of state congratulated them and the entire multi-ethnic nation of Uzbekistan cordially on the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre. He gave high state awards to many active members of national cultural centres.

At the festive event, a television recording of this meeting was shown.

At the initiative of the country’s First President Islam Karimov and in accordance with a resolution dated 13 January 1992 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the country’s republican international cultural centre was established.

In 1992, there were 10 national cultural centres in Uzbekistan, and today their number is 137.

“I was born in Uzbekistan, here I got education and achieved family happiness. I am proud to be a citizen of this great country. This ethnic cultural diversity has not only become an integral part of our lives but it also plays an important role in ensuring stability and further extending democratic reforms in society. Uzbekistan’s experience of strengthening inter-ethnic relations is widely recognized in the whole world and serves as an example for many other countries,” says Agrippina Shin, director of the Tashkent vocational college of information technologies, senator and distinguished teacher.

Various events have been held in all the regions of the country on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre.

“Today is the most joyous day of my life. Our country’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave me a Shuhrat (glory) medal. Uzbekistan is a country of peace and accord, and is our common dear Motherland. In this sacred land, everyone regardless of their ethnicity, faith and language gains recognition and respect for their conscientious work,” says Nina Shubnikova, deputy chairperson of the Belarus cultural centre “Svitanak” in the city of Tashkent.

In a big festive concert programme devoted to the 25th anniversary of the republican international cultural centre, prominent artistes and artistic groups of national cultural centres performed songs about the Motherland, independence, peace and friendship.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, N.Yoldoshev, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, N.Ismoilov; the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A.Aripov; and a Presidential State Advisor, H.Sultonov.

The visit of the Uzbek delegation to Afghanistan

On January 24, 2017 the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov was recieved by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in the palace “Arg” in the residence of the head of Afghanistan.

The Minister conveyed a personal message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the President of the IRA with an invitation to visit Uzbekistan on an official visit.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations in various fields.

It was emphasized that thanks to the political will of the leaderships of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, relations between our countries have acquired a completely new dynamic and character that is evident in the enhanced cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport-communications and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The sides also exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest of international and regional policy.

On January 24, 2017 in Kabul the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah.

The sides discussed perspective directions of further development of cooperation in trade-economic, transport-communications and investment spheres.

As has been noted at the meeting, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have sufficient capacity to increase mutual trade turnover, which in January-October 2016 amounted 429 million US dollars. In this regard, the parties attach great importance to the lunch of operations of trade house of foreign trade company “Uzsanoateksport” in Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdullah thanked the Uzbek side for construction and commissioning of the only railway line in Afghanistan Hairatan – Mazari-Sharif in the shortest period and helping in the training of highly qualified engineer-technical staff.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the prospects for the implementation of new joint projects in the field of energy, socio-economic revival of Afghanistan, objects of infrastructure.

On January 23, 2017, in Kabul, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is in Afghanistan on an official visit, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Salahiddin Rabbani.

The foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the problems of international and regional policy.

The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international structures. Special attention was paid to the activity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in whose Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs Uzbekistan is currently chairing.

On January 24, 2017 the governmental delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is in Kabul on an official visit, had a meeting with a Senior Adviser to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Economic Affairs Humayun Qayumi, Special Representative of the President on the development of cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and Russia is Mohammad Shakir Kargar .

During the visit, the sides signed a bilateral trade and economic “road map”, the implementation of which will increase the commodity turnover up to 1.5 billion US dollars; The protocol of intent on further development of cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure, providing the Uzbek side participation in joint railway and road projects; The protocol of intent on the establishment of the Joint Commission on Security; ministerial Memorandum of Understanding; The agreement between the Ministries of the Interior on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.

The representatives of business structures of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed mutually beneficial contracts for the supply of medicines and medical products, “Ambulance” cars, wheat, electrical appliances totaling over 49.3 million. USD dollars.

Uzbek-Chinese political consultations

On January 24, 2017, the regular Uzbek-Chinese political consultations between Foreign Ministries were held in Beijing. The delegation headed by the Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Li Huilai represented Chinese side.

During the negotiations, the sides discussed the condition and prospects of deepening relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other areas, the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to Uzbekistan on 21-22 June 2016.

The parties considered the process of preparations for the upcoming visit at the highest and high levels.

On the same day Beijing hosted a regular meeting of the Subcommittee on cooperation in the field of security of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee. During the meeting the parties summed up and outlined the prospects of cooperation in this sphere, and exchanged views on international and regional issues.

The Year Begins with Medals

Participants and winners of the 13th Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science have returned to Tashkent. The solemn ceremony was prepared at the international airport of the capital to meet them.

According to the Center of Secondary Special, Professional Education, at the 13th Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Scienceб Uzbekistan was represented by seven students at the academic lyceums of the country, and three of them showed good results worthy of medals.

Two medalists are from academic lyceum №3 at the Bukhara State University, which is located in Karakul district of Bukhara region and is famous for strong tradition of teaching mathematics and physics, and which trained several dozen winners of international competitions in these disciplines: Abdumalik Abdukayumov won silver medal in mathematics and Sirojiddin Nurmanov grabbed bronze in physics.

“Our Karakul school won the recognition more than 20 years ago. Over these years, we have prepared a few dozen students who were awarded prizes at the competitions. But, as you know, this school was originally a specialized school with the profound studying of disciplines. Four years ago, next to it our academic lyceum was built, and I was instructed to raise this education institution. Today, the school and lyceum are working in close cooperation,” said the headmaster of the Lyceum Tukhtamurod Jumayev. “First there was a period of formation, and since last year the students of the lyceum began to show good results in international competitions. This allows us to say that we do have the experience to ensure the work of the academic lyceum at the required level.”

The academic lyceum №2 at the Tashkent University of Information Technology is only five years old. However, it has already been recognized as the strong education institution. In the last year a student of this lyceum won the republican subject competition, and this year its student Temirbek Khujakulov took the second place in the Zhautykov Olympiad among his peers in computer science.
