Uzbek farmers’ victory
Farmers of Uzbekistan fulfilled their contractual obligations on growing grain, cotton, fruits and vegetables, silk as well as in sericulture and animal husbandry for this year.
This year, our farmers collected 7 million 300 thousand tons of grain, over 3 million 350 thousand tons of cotton. Every year approximately 16 million tons of fruits and vegetables are harvested.
– Conditions for farmers, created under the guidance of President Islam Karimov, is a significant factor in our achievements, – says Yakub Fattoev, head of the “Fattoev” farming unit in Pehsku district of Bukhara region. – This year we have collected over 228 tons of cotton. We have fulfilled our contractual obligations, thanks to which our welfare is also raising. Until the end of the season, we plan to reach the harvest level of 5 tons per hectare.
90 per cent of cotton, grown this year, have been identified as high quality. Necessary conditions for increasing this indicator is also in place in our country. A special attention is paid to due are for cotton-trees and timely conduction of agritechnical measures, such as irrigation, cultivation, chasing, pest control, defoliation.
In farming every day is important, – says Saidakhmad Umidallaev, head of the “Saodat” farming unit in Kumkurgan district of Surkhandarya region. – I learned this from my own experience of growing grain and cotton for several years. If any of the agritechnical measures are not carried out on time, the results in late autumn will not be as planned. That’s why we carry out necessary agricultural work on time and with quality.
Average grain yield this year in our country is 53 quintals per hectare. Average yield in Baliqchi, Ishtikhon, Izboskan, Denov, Vobkent, Romitan, Pastdarg’om, Toshloq, Uchqurgon, Qiziltepa districts was around 55-60 quintals per hectare, which once again demonstrates huge potential of our farmers.

Steel Horses Do Not Spoil a Furrow
Agriculture occupies a special niche in the economy of Uzbekistan. Sunny fruits and vegetables, white cotton, corn, grapes and melons are known far beyond the borders of the country. The progress is largely the result of effective work of agricultural machinery tractor fleet.
The machinery fleet has been entrusted with prompt provision of tractors, combines, and various attachments to meet the needs of farmers. With this purpose the ‘UzAgroMashServis’ Company has created an extensive network of depots, supply and service centers, and spare parts repair plants throughout the country.
Today, 30-35% of plantations in Uzbekistan are plowed by tractors; 50-55% of crops are collected by the harvesters of the machine-tractor depots. In 2013, the machine-tractor stationst rendered mechanized services to agricultural manufacturers in the amount of 13.1 billion soums, against 16.6 billion soums in 2014 (currency rates of CB RU from 23.10.2015 1$= 2663.45 soums). By the end of the current year, the association is planning to bring the indicator up to 17 billion soums.
The cooperation of the Uzbek and German experts has helped to address the issue of equipping ‘Claas’ combine harvesters and agricultural machinery with component parts. Some of them have already been produced at the facilities of domestic enterprises, and the development of 55 kinds of components has been in progress.
Another interesting project on the transfer of agricultural machinery to compressed natural gas has been underway at the ‘Dalvarzin Ta’mirlash’ plant. The Uzbek side signed a contract with the South Korean company ‘KNM-Tech’ on the transfer of technology of conversion of tractors to compressed natural gas instead of diesel fuel.
To date, the company has retooled 20 tractors manufactured at the Tashkent Tractor Plant. They have already been certified and tested in the fields of the Tashkent region.
The Korean partners have provided the country’s first mobile filling station to fuel the machines directly in the field. In the near future the plant is planning to establish the retooling of T-135 tractors ‘New Holland’ and ‘Orion’, and localize the manufacture of mobile gas filling stations.
