On the Visit of Prime Minister of Pakistan to Uzbekistan

Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on 17-18 November 2015 on the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The program of the visit meetings and negotiations between the two leaders, during which it is planned to discuss the state and priorities of further development of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields, to exchange views on regional and international issues.

The sides are expected to adopt the Joint Declaration between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to sign bilateral documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in various fields.

President of Uzbekistan sends condolences to President of France

On November 14, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov sent a message to French President Francois Hollande, in which he expressed sincere condolences in connection with a series of terrorist acts in Paris, which caused deaths of citizens of France.

The head of our state conveyed words of condolence to the family of the dead and injured, as well to the people of France, stressing: “We grieve together with you”.

Wrestling Medals That Have Us  Swell with Pride

At the 10th World Kurash Championship in the Iranian city of Hurremabad, Team Uzbekistan has bagged five gold, four silver and two bronze medals won, leaving competitors from over 50 countries trailing behind.

The tournament was preceded by the 15th congress of the International Kurash Association. The national federations of Italy and Monaco have become members of the IKA. The heads of the continental associations have reported the results for the outgoing year and provided an in-depth outlook for 2016. Haider Farman, who is the current Director of the Asian Games section of the Olympic Council of Asia, has been elected President of the IKA. The Executive Committee now includes representatives of Uzbekistan, India, Turkey, Iran, Ukraine, Morocco, South Korea, Poland and other countries.

“The Olympic Committee of Asia has included kurash in the program of Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia,” said the president of IKA Haider Farman. “This sport will also be a part of the programs of the Asian Beach Games in 2016 in Vietnam and of the Indoor Asian Games in Martial Arts in 2017 in Turkmenistan. Our goal is to promote kurash globally and share its ancient philosophy and values with athletes all over world, especially with the younger generation.

Two Uzbekistan athletes fought for the championship in the -81kg category. Temurkhon Turayev beat Ruslan Boltaev. Third place has been given to Elyas Aliakbari of Iran and Serdar Jummaev of Turkmenistan.

Erkin Doniyorov was the strongest in the -100kg weight category. Muslim Nouri came in second. Iran’s Vahid Nouri and Ukraine’s Vladislav Zembitskiy won bronze medals. Muhsin Hisamiddinov and Bekzod Karimov from Uzbekistan were first and second in the top heavyweight group. The bronze was awarded to a pair of wrestlers from Iran.

The fight among lightweights was most fierce between Ganbar Ali of Iran and Rahman Jumayev of Uzbekistan. The home crowd helped the Iranian athlete win the gold medal.

Mirjon Tuhtayev came in third place. In the lowest weight division, our athletes Maruf Gaybullaev and Abror Jabborov won gold and a silver medal. They were supported by Davlat Abraev who won a gold medal in the -73kg category.

Muhsin Hisamiddinov was the favorite in the absolute weight category, but was unable to defeat Ibragim Gayar of Iran and Buong Ming Park of South Korea.
