President Decrees on Increasing Salaries, Pensions
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on 21 November on increasing the sizes of the salaries, pensions, stipends and social allowances.
The decree, which aims at increasing the income and the living level of the population, as well as strengthening social support of the citizens, stipulates increasing the minimum salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances by the average 10% from 15 December.
The new size of the minimum salary has been set at 118,400 soums per month, pensions and allowances to the disabled from childhood at 231,575 soums, and the allowances to the elderly and citizens incapable of work without the required work experience at 142,100 soums (currency rates of CB RU from 10.11.2014 1$= 2396.79 soums).
All types of additional payments, including allowances for mothers with children under the age of 2, for families with children, compensational and other payments are also set to increase in accordance with the decree of the head of the state.

Presidents of Uzbekistan, Switzerland Discuss Bilateral Relations
On 21 November at the Oqsaroy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov met with the Swiss President – Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Didier Burkhalter.
Greeting the high-ranking guest, the head of our state noted that Uzbekistan considers Switzerland a long-standing and reliable partner who wields an important standing in world politics and is a universally acknowledged economic and financial center.
The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange views in detail across key issues in the Uzbek-Swiss relations and on prospective aspects of their evolution in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other areas.
It was noted that the two nations have garnered a considerable experience of interaction in diverse spheres and have created a robust agreement-normative base.
77 enterprises with Swiss capital, including 22 completely Swiss, are currently operating in Uzbekistan. The positive trend in building up the bilateral trade is evident this year, as well.
At the same time, the available potential of bilateral relations allows for steadfast enhancement of constructive cooperation in all areas that the two countries share interest in.
As it was stressed at the meeting, close or similar positions of our two nations on many issues in regional and global politics help create an environment conducive for interaction within the frameworks of international organizations, such as the UN and OSCE, among others.
In this context, Didier Burkhalter shared with preliminary outcomes of the Swiss presidency in the OSCE in 2014, which was supported by Uzbekistan.
Also, a range of pressing international issues was discussed during the talks.

International cooperation
Meeting with President of Switzerland
On November 21, 2014, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the President of the Swiss Confederation visiting to our country, the current Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Didier Burkhalter, who is also head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting it was discussed current issues of Uzbek-Swiss relations. Special attention was paid to the interaction within the OSCE.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international agenda.
After negotiations, it has been signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation. Document defines the shape and main directions of regular ministerial consultations.
Ambassador of Switzerland Nicolas Bruehl aslo attended in the event.
