Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) of China is intending to purchase a state share of Urgench Excavator Plant

A memorandum was signed between O’zbekiston Temir Yo’llari (Uzbekistan Railways) as the controlling shareholder, and the Chinese side.

It stands to reason why Uzbekistan has chosen the Chinese company. In January 2014, the plant has launched a joint venture UzXCMG, specializing in the assembly of excavators and bulldozers of different types from Chinese components. The initial capacity of 200 units per year was increased to 300, and in furtherance is scheduled to reach 400 units of equipment.

In the first quarter of 2015, the company produced 158 units of equipment, including 104 construction, reclamation, crawler and wheeled excavators of different models, and 54 bulldozers.

UzXCMG is planning to not just increase the production of equipment, but also extend service maintenance of hydraulic excavators and other construction equipment, as well as the production of the relevant spare parts and components. The plant has already developed its localization program. For instance, it is envisaged to transfer the production of certain types of welded structures and parts to local producers by 2017.
