Best banks on attraction of deposits of the population announced in Uzbekistan
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 31, 2008 “On holding of the republic competition on attracting deposits of the population among commercial banks”, a contest to attract household deposits by the results of 2014 was held.
The competition was open to all 26 commercial banks of the republic, 846 branches and 4,200 mini-banks and specialized banks.
The ceremony of awarding the winners held on February 7, 2015 in the Association of Banks of Uzbekistan under the leadership of Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the competition – Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan F.Mullajanov.
Adoption of a presidential decree and the annual celebration of this event led to a further intensification of the activities of commercial banks in attracting deposits, improve the quality and expand the range of banking services, as well as the introduction of new types of deposits with the suggestions of retail depositors.
In addition, conduction of a contest served to strengthen the resource base of banks for their further investment activity, a healthy competitive environment in the banking system, and the application in the field of international best practices.
It should be noted that the funds invested by individuals on deposits, are exempt from all taxes, their sources are not declared, investors manage these funds without any restrictions.
Hereby, in accordance with the Presidential Decree of November 28, 2008 “On additional measures to guarantee the protection of citizens’ deposits in commercial banks of the Republic of Uzbekistan” guaranteed reimbursement of deposits of citizens in full regardless of the size of deposits.
These measures had a positive impact on the further development of the banking system. Today, the population of the republic offered by more than 250 types of deposits in national and foreign currencies without restrictions in their size and timing. By the end of 2014, the volume of deposits in commercial banks increased by 30.8 percent compared with 2013 year.
Announcement and awarding ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere, with the heads of the Committee on Budget and Economic Reforms of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Banking Association, the Deposit Guarantee Fund and commercial banks of the republic.
According to the results of the contest winners were determined in eight main and eleven additional nominations.
Thus, the winners have been recognized:

First Place – State Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Asaka”;
Second Place – The National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
Third place – Joint Stock Commercial Mortgage Bank “Ipoteka Bank”.

First Place – Samarkand Regional Branch Management of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank “Agrobank”;
Second Place – Khorezm branch of joint-stock commercial bank “Aloqabank”;
Third place – Operational management of Private Equity Exchange Bank “Trastbank”.

First Place – Hankinsk branch of Joint Stock Commercial Bank “Qishloq Qurilish Bank”;

AGMK construct mine at Kayragach field
Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (AGMK) completed construction of underground mine at gold field Kayragach in Tashkent region.
The company said that its mine builders commissioned adits No 1 and No 1A in Angren ore department. New Kayragach field appeared here and the first ore from field were delivered to gold processing plant of AGMK.
The cost of the project “Construction of underground mine at Kayragach field” makes up US$30.6 million. The capacity of the mine is up to 80,000 tonnes of ore a year.
The project was financed due to the loan of the Uzbek bank for US$13.2 million, loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan – US$6.7 million and own resources of AGMK – US$10.7 million.

Alisher Navoi – the pride and glory of the Uzbek people
February 9 is celebrated worldwide as a birthday of Alisher Navoi – the great son of the Uzbek people, the great poet, thinker, scholar and statesman, whose artistic heritage is huge and multifaceted.
In his wise statements, he encourages people to be noble and truthful, generous and kind, intelligent and courteous. He glorifies love, loyalty, brotherhood of nations, while ridiculing human vices and pernicious customs. And today, after five centuries, his works are all also attractive because the ideological basis of creativity Navoi make humanism, justice, thoughts and aspirations of a happy life for all people, faith in reason and progress.
He had written seven divans (poems) and the crown of great creations of poet – a work “Hamsa”, which includes five poems – a testament to his genius. Extending through the ages and the time of his poems and qasidas (lyrical initiation), scientific and didactic works carry actual messages of creator to future generations .
Each line is riddled with feelings of kindness, tolerance, call for peace, love and understanding between people, friendship and cooperation, and that is why acquires global relevance in the modern world.
Works of Alisher Navoi still to this day are of interest throughout the world, as evidenced by the translations of the works of the great poet in English, French, German and many other languages. Fans of literature are attracted by profound philosophy of his work, rich in metaphor, a variety of poetic images. In other words, the secret of undying fame Navoi works lies in their high artistic level.

Love to the native language, a sense of awareness of his immense wealth and greatness are formed in us primarily due to the works of Navoi. The greater our people, youth will join this noble heritage, more successful will be process of formation of good humanistic qualities in society.
The world of images and feelings Navoi spiritualized poetry peoples of the Middle East, primarily Uzbek literature, the first great representative of which he was. Themes and subjects of his works, from the perceived and poetic tradition of folk art, soon regained walking among the people, and were then, in turn, repeatedly treated folk singers and storytellers.
Navoi’s merit not only that he brilliantly proved the unlimited possibilities of the Uzbek poetry and created works of genius, but also in the fact that he expressed his progressive, humanist ideas of his time in all their complexity, contradictions, weaving around the great insights and misconceptions , unrestrained glorification of life in all its manifestations and sad skepticism, starry-eyed dreams and sober outlook on life.

A Book on Khorezm Is Published in Russia
‘Ancient Khorezm Is a Country of High Culture and Unique Spirituality (ethno-historical sketches)’ is the name of the book by a well-known scholar-historian and ethno-sociologist Isa Jabbarov.
The work of the scholar has been translated into Russian and published in Moscow, which is going to be a striking illustration of the continued interest of international society in the historical heritage of Uzbekistan.
The book has been written based on many years’ work of the Khorezmian archeological-ethnographic expedition that was headed by a scholar, Doctor of History, Professor Sergey Pavlovich Tolstov, to whom this work was dedicated.
The author depicts in detail such stages and characteristic features of the Khorezm civilization, as the emergence of the Khanate of Khiva, ethnic differences of the population, literary heritage of the region, music art, special features of folk theater and other aspects. The book is illustrated with archival and modern photographs reflecting the history and present-day development of the region.
Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Isa Jabbarov is the author for over 300 scholarly works and publications. He participated in excavations at several historical sites, including Toprak-Kala and Koy-Kirilgan-Kala, and in the work of ethnographic groups. The materials collected by him served as the basis for a thesis and repeatedly republished works.
