POLICY

MPs of Legislative Chamber receives certificates, breastplates

Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan hosted a ceremony of handing over certificates and breastplates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

As reported earlier, 150 MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan were registered by the CEC in the result of elections to the lower house of the parliament.

The first session of the Legislative Chamber of oily Majlis of Uzbekistan will be held in Tashkent on 12 January. The session will consider organizational issues.

About 200,000 firm names registered via Internet

State Committee of Uzbekistan on Statistics reserved over 200,000 firm names via Internet as of 1 January 2015, the press service of the committee said.

The committee said that since introduction of system of reserving firm names through Internet, it has reserved 200,000 firm names, which meet requirements of the law “On firm names” and do not have analogous or similar names in database of registered firm names as of 1 January 2015.

As earlier reported, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan launched the system of reserving firm names through Internet on 1 February 2011.

From 1 February 2011, legal entities and individuals can apply for reservation of firm name through website of the State Statistics Committee and receive confirmation of originality or inexistence of identical or similar firm names, which can confuse people.

State Museum of Uzbekistan exhibits remains of Archidiscodon

State Museum of Uzbekistan restored and exhibited a unique exhibit – remains of Archidiscodon, Uzbektourism said.

Remains of Archidiscodon were discovered in Tashkent region – 20 km away from Ahangaran near Ovjasay settlement – in October 2013. It became one of the important discoveries in last 60 years, which made revolution in many areas of science.

Uzbek scientists proved that the remains belong to Archidiscodon (Archidiscodon meridionalis Nesti). It is ancient ancestor of African, Indian and dwarf elephants, as well as mammoth. This proves that Archidiscodons lived in territory of Uzbekistan.

The mammoth was restored by specialists of the State Museum of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry and Physics of polymers. Uzbek scientists developed special glue, which was used at restoration works.

One goal, three points

Uzbekistan kicked off the 2015 AFC Asian Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over North Korea.

Uzbekistan dominated in the match and created 3-4 chances to score, but the players could not convert them into goals. North Korean side played on counter-attacks. The first half ended with goalless draw.

Uzbekistan started the second half with attacks and created several chances to open the score. But Uzbek players failed to score.

On 62 minutes, Igor Sergeev opened the score in the match. Server Jeparov made perfect pass to Sergeev, who headed the ball into the net.

After scoring the goal, Uzbekistan could increase their lead in several occasions, but the players failed to send the ball into the net. At the end of the match, North Korea could score an equalizer, but goalkeeper Ignatiy Nesterov saved his team.

Uzbekistan will play against China in the second match of the Group. The match will take place on 14 January 2015.
