Uzbekistan: One More Facility for Cement Industry
A cement plant, Turon Eco Cement, has been commissioned in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region.
The advantageous location, availability of raw materials and transport infrastructure, and promising investment climate are favorable for the establishment of new cement plants in Uzbekistan.
Under the target program of cement industry development, Uzbekistan is planning to double its current production capacities by 2020, bringing the annual cement production to 16.7 million tons, about 12.2 million tons of which will be produced by dry method. There are currently eight cement plants with a total capacity of 8.64 million tons in the country. The plant in the Fergana region will be followed by new facilities in Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions in the coming years.
Worth $1.9 million, the new facility was built with the help of Chinese specialists. Its commissioning has provided permanent jobs to more than 100 professionals. The plant is capable of producing about 200,000 tons of cement per year.
The implementation of the program on reduction of energy consumption and introduction of energy-efficient technologies by 2019 has been underway. It provides for a gradual transition to the dry cement production technology. Therefore, all designed and currently built facilities will have a huge advantage over competitors from neighboring countries.
As estimated by Uzstroymaterialy Company, Uzbekistan is on a par with France, Hungary, Russia and Switzerland in fuel costs for dry cement production method, and follows Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Russia and the US in terms of the wet production method. Germany, Japan and the UK are the top three energy-efficient countries in this context.
Currently, the share of dry-produced cement in the country exceeds 63%. The volume of cement production in the country has increased 1.8 times over the past decade, reaching 100-percent employment of existing facilities.
