Just Appliances

Electrical engineering industry of Uzbekistan has been demonstrating a progress based on best international practices and cutting edge technologies. It ranks among drivers of import substitution, as it annually launches new kinds of products. 2015 is no exception.

2015 will be marked by dozens of projects that would empower new capacities on the production of a wide range of household appliances, computers, tablets and mobile phones. The recent initiatives include the establishment of the manufacture of household air conditioners and refrigerators jointly with the South Korean company Autech Group in the Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone. The Korean side is currently assessing the state of the market, the industrial and resource capacity of the country, the purchasing capacity of the population, and other aspects.

The outcomes of another similar project in 2015 will be delivered to the markets, stands and homes. A Khiva Maishiy Tehnika company on the manufacture of refrigerators and freezers was commissioned last year in the Khorezm region. At the first stage its production capacity reached 10 thousand items per year. It is expected that the company will reach its full capacity by the end of the current year.

Localization projects remain a spotlight. By the end of 2015 Uzbekistan will produce about 30% of spare parts for industries on its own production facilities, and more than 60% in 2016.

“The first batch came ,off the assembly line on the threshold of the 22nd anniversary of the Constitution of Uzbekistan/’ said the Head of Khiva Maishiy Tehnika company Mr. Allaberganov. “More than fifty items of Osiyo branded home appliances are currently under certification testing. In the future, we are planning to launch the manufacture of new products, thus creating new jobs.”

Over $70 million on improving pre-school and secondary education in Uzbekistan

The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted measures on realization of the project “Improvement of preschool and general secondary education”, submitted to the grant of the Global partnership for education (GPE).

Application for the provision of the grant worth $49.9 million for the project “Improvement of preschool and general secondary education” was approved by the GPE Board of Directors on June 28, 2014. It should be noted that in October last year, the government of Uzbekistan and the World Bank, acting as the governing Agency of the GPE signed a grant agreement for financing of the project.

The project implementation period is 5 years (2014-2018,). According to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 30, 2014, Uzbekistan allocated for the project $4.2 million. This amount covers the cost of delivery, funded by a grant from Tashkent to all educational institutions covered by the project. An additional contribution of our country in the amount of $16.7 million is formed at the expense of funds released as a result of providing benefits for goods, works and services funded by the grant, in the form of exempting them from taxes and other obligatory payments.

The implementation of this project will significantly expand the reach of our nation’s children to quality education in good conditions, especially in rural areas. All grant funds will be used for the repair and reconstruction of buildings and premises of pre-school institutions, secondary schools, institutions for retraining and professional development of teaching staff, equipping them with modern equipment. In the framework of the project in the educational process in secondary schools of Uzbekistan will be introduced modern pedagogical and information technologies, improved forms and methods of training teachers. Note that the implementation of the project also became a significant step towards the development of cooperation with the Global partnership for education and the World Bank.

Note that the purpose of the international organization is the creation of multilateral cooperation to involve children from different corners of the world to quality education. Its activities are financed from eight developed countries and other international organizations. Currently, members of the GPE are more than 80 countries and organizations.
